The Quilt will be the fourth album by Gym Class Heroes released by Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance. The album will be released on September 9, 2008. Frontman Travis McCoy told MTV, "This is me reaching out right now, but we're hoping to get Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys on the record, Daryl Hall on the record. And we're looking forward to writing a couple of songs with Ne-Yo. We got to be good friends with him through the VMAs (MTV Video Music Awards)."^{[citation needed]}

The band has recorded some tracks with producers Cool & Dre as well as Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne. They revealed that the song will make a good kind of surprise. "It's just gonna be a real, real solid record. The demos we have now are just bananas," McCoy added. "(Guitarist) Disashi is just a monster on the new stuff. You're going to hear a lot more of him singing on this one and a lot more of his guitar skills that I don't think he really got to flex on the last record."

Extreme Behavior is the debut album of rock band Hinder. It was released in 2005 to almost universally negative reviews, before going platinum in September 2006. All songs were co-written by Brian Howes. "Shoulda" was co-written with Brian Howes and Social Code. The song "Running in the Rain" did not make the cut for the album but has been played at concerts on their North American tour. The cover art is nearly identical to the cover art of the book How to Tell a Naked Man What to Do: Sex Advice from a Woman Who Knows, by Candida Royalle, except, on the book, the model's lingerie is black. Analog Heart is the debut solo album by singer/guitarist David Cook. Though originally released as an independent record on May 6, 2006, Analog Heart sales jumped during Cook's appearance on the seventh season of American Idol.

Analog Heart won the Urban Tulsa Weekly's "Absolute Best of Tulsa" award for "Best Locally Produced, Independent Album" in 2007.^[1] The album was chosen as the fourth-best CD released in 2006 by website Music Equals Life and ^[2]

On April 18th, 2008, Analog Heart was listed as the number one album for "Today's Top MP3 Albums" on Amazon.com, and David Cook was listed as number one for "Today's Top MP3 Artists". Soon thereafter, the album was removed from Amazon.^[3]^[4] The album sold 900 copies in its last week before being removed, and 300 the week before that. Prior to those two weeks, according to Nielsen SoundScan data, the album had not sold more than 5 copies in a single week.^[5]

In an article published on USAToday.com on May 23, 2008, Cook explained to reporters in a conference call why Analog Heart had to be removed from Amazon: "About midway through the season, I had to have the record pulled, obviously, for fairness issues on the show. And I got it pulled offline. But somebody, I have no idea who, reposted it on Amazon, so while that was going on, I was kind of at a loss. I talked to Amazon about getting it pulled, and there was a bunch of mass confusion about it. I'm extremely appreciative at how well it did. But I was kind of a pawn in that whole game."

Lost in the Sound of Separation is the sixth studio album by post-hardcore band Underoath. It is the fourth on Solid State Records, and will be released on September 2, 2008.^[2]^[3] The band recently spoke to MTV News about the effort, saying it would feature 11 songs that total around 43 minutes.^[4] As of June 8, 2008, the record is completely finished, according to McTague. The upcoming release was told to be a lot "heavier" and "darker" than the 2006 release, Define the Great Line. A handful of people from MTV were the first to get a listen to some of the upcoming songs. It was then reviewed afterward that: "Several of the songs were anthemic, feedback-filled numbers that build slowly to their thunderous, ear-splitting crescendos."

SoL-AngeL and the Hadley St. Dreams is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Solange Knowles, released via Music World and Geffen on August 18, 2008 in the United Kingdom.^[1] In North America, the album will be released on August 26, 2008.^[2]

The album's first single , "I Decided," was released to U.S. radios on April 22, 2008, with a physical CD single release on June 22, 2008.^[4] In the week of June 26, 2008, the single debuted at number 44 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart,^[5] becoming Knowles' highest-charting single to date. Two weeks later, in the week of July 5, 2008, the single hit the number-one spot on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales.

Forth is the upcoming fourth album by English alternative rock band The Verve and will be released internationally on August 25, 2008, and a day later in North America.^[1] The album is the band's first release since reforming in 2007 and touring at various festivals in 2008. It is also the band's first album of new material since Urban Hymns was released in 1997, excluding two unreleased tracks on the singles compilation album This Is Music: The Singles 92-98.

The album's first single, "Love Is Noise", received its first airplay by Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 on June 23, 2008.^[2] The band also released a non-album track, "Mover", as a free digital download a week later.

Ultra Beatdown is the fourth studio album by power metal band DragonForce, released on August 20, 2008 in Japan through JVC and on August 26, 2008 worldwide through Roadrunner Records ^[1] and Universal Music.^[2] It was the first studio album to feature Frédéric Leclercq on bass. On July 4, 2008 the first single from the album, "Heroes of Our Time", was posted on their MySpace profile.^[3] On July 8, 2008, the music video for Heroes of Our Time was released onto their MySpace profile. The songs "Heartbreak Armageddon", "The Fire Still Burns" and "A Flame for Freedom" were all played on 106.1 Rock Radio during a interview with ZP Theart on July 15.^[4] On July 13, 2008, Ultra Beatdown leaked onto several peer-to-peer networks. On August 14, 2008, "Ultra Beatdown" was made available for pre-order in the Dragonforce official webstore. On August 18, the album became available for streaming on the band's myspace page.

One Day as a Lion is the eponymous debut EP by One Day as a Lion, the musical duo consisting of Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha on vocals/keyboard and Jon Theodore, formerly of The Mars Volta, on drums.

On July 16 the track "Wild International" was made available to stream on the band's MySpace page.[1]and was premièred by Australian radio station triple j as well it was premiered by L.A. radio station KROQ. The EP was released on July 18th, 2008 in Australia and July 22nd, 2008 in the US, and was also released on iTunes in iTunes Plus format and on Amazon.com's MP3 Download service. Mixing duties were handled by Mario C.

The Vines - Melodia

Melodia is The Vines' fourth studio album. Recording the album was completed during the week of the 3rd to 10th of March, 2008 with a release occurring in July 2008. Originally thought to be called "Braindead", the title of the album was confirmed via their MySpace website on May 22nd, 2008 to be "Melodia" and a official track list was also announced. The band demoed 25 songs of which only 14 made the final cut. This is their first album for record label Ivy League Records after parting ways with EMI and Capitol Records in 2007. The band began recording in Los Angeles in November 2007 with producer Rob Schnapf, who has also worked on their albums Highly Evolved and Winning Days. The song "True As The Night" is the sequel to the song "Vision Valley" appearing on the album of the same name.

The first single "He's a Rocker" was debuted officially at the 2008 MTV Awards in Australia (April 26) with airplay beginning on radio soon after. "He's a Rocker" was released through iTunes on June 3 with two bonus tracks. 'Blue Jam' being a rough early version of 'Jamola' with 'Hey Now' being an exclusive non album song.

A limited number of signed copies of the album were made available for online pre-order on June 23 in Australia whilst Melodia is sold on CD exclusively in the United States by Insound beginning July 22^[3]. Fans who order online through Insound can receive a free MP3 of the song "Make Believe". All songs off Melodia were made available for streaming on their official MySpace page on July 6.

Black Kids - Partie Traumatic

Date Released: July 22, 2008 Album Genre: Indie Pop, Rock, Synth Album Rating: 7/10 Sounds Like: Vampire Weekend, MGMT, The Wombats, New Young Pony Club The album starts out with Hit The Heatbrakes. It'll definitely be the style that will help define Black Kids, it sounds everything like what we've heard from them so far. Partie Traumatic is a bit more of a surprise, with a couple more sounds from the piano and other instruments, I rather enjoyed this track. I'm sure you've heard of both my favorite tracks in this album, Hurricane Jane and I'm Not Going To Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You. Both tracks are fantastic, though I didn't really listen to the lyrics closely until recently. Kind of confused girl with boy, how typical of me. Sounding somewhat similar is Love Me Already, I don't know. It's probably the reason I like it. I Wanna Be Your Limousine had some interesting sounds, that "ohh eeh ohhh ohh" sounds familiar to something else I've listened to. Overall it was enjoyable, loads of tracks very much indicative of Black Kids, though some variety would help boost their album up a little.

GNV FLA is the seventh full-length studio album from Less Than Jake. It is currently scheduled for release on June 24, 2008 through the band's own label, Sleep It Off Records. The album's title is an abbreviation of the band's hometown, Gainesville, Florida.

In a press release for the album, the band had the following to say:

It's a return to form that could be called the “traditional” Less Than Jake sound, complete with their trademark bouncy ska grooves and horns galore, GNV FLA comes full circle with the band’s beginnings, when they were scrapping up money from gigs to augment their Pez collections.^[1]

The LP's third track, "Does the Lion City Still Roar?", is slated to be the first single. The band uploaded the song to their website for listeners on May 25, 2008. The single will be released on June 17, 2008 with a b-side entitled "All Time Low". The band recorded a sixteenth song as well called "Antidote for the Underdog".

An armada of horned humanoid aliens known as Boazanians invade earth and launch their "beast fighters" all over the world, defeating most of the world's armed forces including the US military. Their first humiliating defeat by Super Electromagnetic Machine, Voltes V brings the invaders to focus their attacks on Japan. Voltes V was designed by Prof. Kentaro Gō (Dr. Ned Armstrong), his wife Prof. Mitsuyo Gō (Dr. Mary Ann Armstrong) and their trusted colleague, Prof. Hamaguchi (Dr. Richard Smith) and built by large scale construction effort backed by United Nations Earth Defense Force and General Oka (Commander Robinson). Voltes V is piloted by five "Volt Machines" that comprise the robot are piloted by the three sons of Kentaro and Mitsuyo Gō; Ken'ichi, Daijiro, and Hiyoshi, the only daughter of General Oka; Megumi, and Ippei Mine, an orphan cowboy.

Voltes V's home base is Camp Big Falcon, a fortress situated on a bird-shaped island along the coast of Japan. Voltes V's enemy are the Boazanians namely Prince Heinell, Katharine, Jangal, and Zuhl. We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. is Jason Mraz's third studio album released on May 13, 2008. Progress of the recording of the album has been documented on the YouTube series "Crazy Man's Ju-ju" which contain clips from San Diego and London, where most of the album was formed. The album features collaborations with James Morrison on the track "Details in the Fabric" and with Colbie Caillat, on the track "Lucky."

During the Fuse TV special "Where Music Meets Film," aired on February 4, 2008, Jason states "this is the opening track on the new record" before performing "Make It Mine."

"I'm Yours" is the first single from the album and was made available on iTunes, Zune Marketplace, and Amazon.com on February 12th, 2008.

The album was preceded by three EP's released monthly for a limited time. We Sing was released on March 18th. We Dance was released on April 15th. The third installment, We Steal Things, was released as part of a digital bundle through iTunes, JasonMraz.com, and AtlanticRecords.com upon the release of the album. The third EP was only released along with the new studio album May 13th, 2008.

Since 1983, when Cyndi Lauper and Madonna both dropped debut albums and fought for the leg-warmer love of the burgeoning MTV nation, there hasn't been much reason to compare the two pop stars. Yet here they both are 25 years later, returning to the same terrain: the dance floor. Nixing the adult-contemporary vibe of her last studio album, 1997's mixed-bag Sisters of Avalon, Lauper teams up with pop-song doctors from the studio of Max Martin (Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson) and electro wizards including Basement Jaxx and the Scumfrog for an album of club throb. On the pulsing Euro disco "Into the Nightlife," Lauper sings about happily partying, but by "Same Ol' Story" she's in full-out soul-diva mode, bitching about an unbalanced relationship with throaty emphasis. Closer "Rain on Me" glances back to her classic "Time After Time" with glowing synths, but it feels a bit chilly. Brink never reaches a full serotonin explosion like Confessions on a Dancefloor, but at least Lauper has taken after the competition and found a new groove.

Evil Urges is the fifth studio album by My Morning Jacket.
